Scientific Research

I recently defended my PhD thesis "Of Mountains and Rivers: Exploring the biogeography, ecology, phylogeny, taxonomy, and spatial population genetics of the plant genus Myricaria (Tamaricaceae)". This work explores the riparian shrub Myricaria from a variety of angles. Using this genus as a starting point, I explore a range of scientific methods, including next-generation sequencing, herbariomics, and causality.

Side projects during this time include some epidemiological modelling, an interest I developed as an undergraduate at the University of Oxford.

My current main interest is causality in ecology - at the moment I am brainstorming new ideas!
